The FBI has issued a warning to cryptocurrency companies regarding recent blockchain activities associated with the theft of significant funds by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

In the past 24 hours, the FBI has successfully traced approximately 1,580 bitcoins (BTC) valued at over $40 million.

The state has alleged that groups linked to TraderTraitor, namely the Lazarus Group and APT38, were involved in extracting funds from multiple cryptocurrency protocols and projects in the previous year.

These funds were taken by the DPRK and are currently being held in six Bitcoin addresses. The Bureau has expressed concerns that the DPRK might make attempts to convert and utilize these digital assets, as stated in an official announcement.

People connected to DPRK TraderTraitor have been found responsible for a series of big cryptocurrency thefts around the world.

The group took control of $60 million worth of online money from Alphapo on June 22, 2023, grabbed $37 million from CoinsPaid on the same day, and wrongly got $100 million from Atomic Wallet on June 2, 2023.

Before these events, the FBI shared info about their attacks on Harmony’s Horizon Bridge and Sky Mavis’ Ronin Bridge. They also advised on staying safe online due to TraderTraitor’s actions.
